About Sion Touhig

I have worked in a variety of visual journalism and multimedia fields since 1991.

Initially based in London, I worked for domestic and international newspapers and magazines from 1991-2006, covering stories such as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, strife in the Balkans and Palestine, a US Presidential race and issues closer to the UK - several General Elections, the Foot and Mouth crisis, Northern Ireland marching season and the July 7th 2005 London Bombings.

In 1998 I moved from analogue to digital still imaging and in 2006, began to supplement my stills work with video for newspaper and NGO websites, after video-journalism training with the BBC and UK Press Association. I'm also Hostile Environments (HE) / First Aid trained and certified by AKE Group Security and Political Risks Management.

I continue to maintain my original skills base in DSLR image workflow and remote image transmission, am a certified Apple Level 1 Pro in the Final Cut Pro 7 and Fnal Cut Pro X NLE system and have proficiency in a variety of SD and HD video cameras.

I’ve also acted as a media advocate and trainer, giving lectures to the Royal Photographic Society ('The Future of Photojournalism'), Tourism Concern ('Ethical Travel Photography'), the UK Specialist Schools & Academies Trust ('Visual Literacy'), the Telegraph Newspaper Group (on web video) , students at North London University and visiting children at the SS Robin Trust, a unique photographic educational resource based on a 19th Century steamship.

In 2007-2008 I relocated to Singapore, where I now work as Deputy Editor (Multimedia) at TODAY newspaper, managing and co-ordinating the daily stills and video output for this national newspaper's print and Web output.
I also continue to shoot stills and video for a number of clients.
